Ecommerce is entering a new phase. AI is no longer limited to writing product descriptions or generating a few marketing ideas. The best AI tools are beginning to create product visuals, personalize shopping experiences, automate customer service, analyze store performance, and even take actions on behalf of merchants.

That matters because running an ecommerce website in 2027 will be less about using dozens of disconnected apps and more about building a smart system that can work across the entire customer journey.

Shopify's recent research and guidance already show AI expanding across content, customer service, personalization, product discovery, and store operations.

But with thousands of AI tools available, the real challenge is deciding which ones are actually worth using.

Here are 10 AI tools ecommerce businesses should watch and consider for 2027, starting with one of the most important areas of ecommerce: product visuals.

1. EcomStation AI: Best for AI Product Photography

EcomStation AI

If your ecommerce website still depends on expensive photoshoots every time you launch a product, AI can completely change that workflow.

EcomStation AI is built specifically for ecommerce product photography. Instead of starting with a complicated studio setup, you can upload a product image and generate professional ecommerce visuals from it.

The platform can create product listing images, lifestyle scenes, advertising creatives, marketplace-ready images, backgrounds, and other visual variations from a single product photo.

The biggest advantage is product consistency.

Generic AI image generators can sometimes change the shape, color, packaging, texture, or branding of a product when generating a new scene. EcomStation is designed around preserving those important product details while changing the environment around the product.

For an ecommerce brand, that is extremely important.

Imagine launching a new skincare product. Instead of booking a photographer and creating separate photos for your website, Amazon listing, Instagram ads, seasonal campaigns, and social media, you can start with one product image and create multiple variations.

EcomStation also offers AI background removal, image editing, upscaling, AI product photography, templates, and bulk Shopify image generation.

Best for: Shopify stores, DTC brands, marketplace sellers, agencies, and ecommerce teams that need more product content without increasing photography costs.

2. Shopify Sidekick — The AI Assistant Inside Your Store

If your store runs on Shopify, Sidekick is becoming one of the most important native AI tools to understand.

Unlike a general AI chatbot, Sidekick operates inside Shopify and has access to store information. Shopify says Sidekick can help with tasks such as editing themes, building automations, generating reports, creating customer segments, and making changes to the store.

That distinction matters.

A general AI assistant might tell you how to change something. An ecommerce-native assistant can potentially help you do it inside the platform.

This is where ecommerce AI is heading: from answering questions to executing tasks.

Best for: Shopify merchants who want an AI assistant for daily store management.

3. Klaviyo: AI for Customer Retention

Getting a customer to make the first purchase is only half the battle. The bigger opportunity is getting that customer to return.

Klaviyo is increasingly using AI to automate marketing and customer engagement around real customer data.

Its newer AI capabilities include marketing agents and Customer Agent functionality designed to work from customer behavior, purchase history, and real-time signals. Klaviyo's Composer can generate launch-ready campaigns from a prompt, including audiences and messaging.

This could dramatically reduce the amount of manual work required to create lifecycle campaigns.

Instead of manually building every abandoned-cart, win-back, cross-sell, and reactivation campaign, marketers can increasingly describe the desired outcome and let AI construct the workflow.

Best for: Ecommerce brands focused on retention, email, SMS, personalization, and customer lifetime value.

4. Gorgias: AI Customer Service for Ecommerce

Customer support is one of the easiest areas of ecommerce to identify repetitive work.

“Where is my order?”
“How do I return this?”
“Can I change my shipping address?”
“Do you have this product in another size?”

AI can handle many of these questions without requiring a human agent to respond every time.

Gorgias is an ecommerce-focused customer service platform that connects support workflows with store information.

For growing ecommerce businesses, this can reduce repetitive support workload while helping customers get answers faster.

The important distinction for 2027 will be between AI that simply replies and AI that can actually complete an action. The more valuable systems will connect to orders, products, returns, subscriptions, and other backend systems.

Best for: Shopify and ecommerce brands dealing with high volumes of repetitive customer questions.

5. Rebuy: AI Personalization That Can Increase AOV

Most ecommerce websites show the same shopping experience to everyone. That is becoming outdated.

Rebuy uses AI-driven personalization to provide product recommendations and shopping experiences based on customer behavior.

Its platform covers areas including cart merchandising, checkout, post-purchase experiences, search, collections, and product recommendations. Rebuy says more than 50,000 Shopify brands use its technology.

The opportunity is simple: instead of asking every visitor to figure out what to buy next, AI can help guide them. For example, someone buying a camera could see recommended lenses, memory cards, batteries, or accessories. Someone purchasing skincare could see complementary products. This can increase average order value while making product discovery easier.

Best for: Shopify stores that want personalized recommendations, upsells, cross-sells, and higher AOV.

6. Photoroom — Fast AI Image Editing at Scale

Product photography doesn't end when the image is captured. Background removal, resizing, retouching, lighting corrections, image cleanup, and marketplace formatting can consume enormous amounts of time.

Photoroom focuses heavily on this part of ecommerce.

Its tools include AI product photography, background removal, AI backgrounds, image enhancement, brand templates, and batch processing.

For larger catalogs, batch processing is especially useful because sellers can process many product images in one workflow rather than editing each image manually. Photoroom also provides APIs for businesses that want to integrate image processing into their own workflows.

Best for: Marketplace sellers, ecommerce teams, agencies, and businesses managing large product catalogs.

7. Shopify Magic: The Easy AI Starting Point

Before buying multiple AI applications, Shopify merchants should understand what is already available inside Shopify.

Shopify Magic provides AI-powered capabilities for areas such as product descriptions, email copy, blog content, image editing, and customer-facing content. That makes it a useful starting point for smaller stores.

You don't necessarily need a complicated AI stack on day one. A merchant could use Shopify Magic for basic content and Sidekick for store operations, then add specialized tools when the business reaches a point where more advanced functionality is required.

Best for: New Shopify stores and small businesses that want to start using AI without immediately adding a large collection of third-party tools.

8. FullStory: Find Out Why Customers Aren’t Buying

Traffic is not the same as revenue. You can have thousands of visitors and still have a conversion problem. The challenge is understanding why people leave.

FullStory uses digital experience analytics, session replay, and behavioral data to help businesses understand how visitors interact with websites.

For ecommerce teams, this can reveal problems such as confusing navigation, broken buttons, checkout friction, product-page issues, or unexpected customer behavior.

AI makes this type of analysis more scalable because teams can identify patterns instead of manually watching hundreds of individual sessions.

Best for: Ecommerce businesses trying to improve conversion rates and understand website friction.

9. Jasper: Scale Ecommerce Content

Every ecommerce store needs content: product descriptions, landing pages, ad copy, email campaigns, SEO content, and category pages. The problem is that content production becomes difficult when a store has hundreds or thousands of products.

Jasper can help ecommerce marketing teams accelerate content creation while maintaining a consistent brand voice.

AI-generated content still needs human review, especially for product specifications, claims, pricing, and compliance. But when used properly, it can dramatically reduce the time required to create first drafts and variations.

Best for: Ecommerce brands with large catalogs and marketing teams producing content at high volume.

10. AI Visibility Tools: The New Ecommerce SEO Layer

There is another category that could become extremely important by 2027: AI visibility.

Traditional SEO focuses on getting your website into Google search results. But customers are increasingly using AI assistants to research products and make purchasing decisions.

Klaviyo's research found that 78% of surveyed consumers in the U.S., U.K., and Australia had used AI for shopping or product research in the previous three months. That creates a new question for ecommerce brands: when someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, or another AI assistant which product they should buy, does your brand appear?

This means ecommerce businesses will increasingly need to optimize product information, structured data, reviews, content, brand authority, and product feeds for AI-driven discovery.

AI visibility is therefore likely to become another important layer of ecommerce marketing alongside traditional SEO, paid advertising, social media, and email.

How to Choose the Right AI Tools for Your Ecommerce Website

The biggest mistake is buying AI tools simply because they have impressive features. Start with the problem:

If your product images look outdated, start with an AI visual platform such as EcomStation AI.
If your support team is overwhelmed, prioritize customer service automation.
If your store has traffic but low AOV, look at personalization.
If customers abandon carts, focus on lifecycle marketing.
If you have thousands of products, prioritize content and catalog automation.
And if customers increasingly discover products through AI assistants, start thinking about AI visibility.

The best ecommerce AI strategy is not about having 50 tools. It is about having the right AI system for each major bottleneck.

The Ecommerce Website of 2027 Will Look Very Different

The biggest change won't be that ecommerce websites suddenly have more AI buttons. The change will happen behind the scenes.

AI will increasingly help create the images customers see, personalize the products they discover, answer their questions, recover abandoned purchases, analyze their behavior, generate marketing campaigns, and automate repetitive store operations.

The brands that benefit most will not necessarily be the ones using the most AI. They will be the ones using AI where it directly improves the customer journey or removes expensive manual work.

For ecommerce businesses preparing for 2027, the starting point is simple:

Create better product visuals.
Make discovery easier.
Personalize the shopping journey.
Automate repetitive support.
Understand customer behavior.
And make sure your products are visible not only to search engines, but increasingly to AI shopping assistants.

The AI ecommerce race is already underway. The stores that build their AI stack early may be the ones customers see, trust, and buy from tomorrow.
