Mathway

Mathway is a math problem-solving application that provides step-by-step solutions. Users can input problems by typing them directly or by uploading a photograph of a handwritten or printed equation, which the system's photo math solver interprets to process the problem. The software supports a range of subjects including Basic Math, Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, Linear Algebra, Chemistry, and Physics. In addition to its general solver, Mathway includes a library of over 59 specialized calculators, such as an equation solver and a derivative calculator, designed for specific problem types within these subjects. The tool is used primarily by students in high school and higher education. A common workflow involves a student taking a photo of a homework problem from a textbook. The application then generates a solution with a full breakdown of the steps, which the student can review to understand the required method. Another use case is for students to verify their own work by manually inputting an equation they have already solved. They can then compare their process against the platform’s explanation to confirm the correct answer and methodology.
